Drexel University law professor, Lisa McElroy, 50, of California who teaches legal writing and pedagogy is under investigation after she allegedly emailed an adult website link to students on March 31.
When students at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law received an email from McElroy with “great article on writing briefs” in the subject line, they discovered a shocking link inside.
Instead of placing a link to the article about writing briefs in the email, McElroy allegedly emailed a link to students that directed them to a particular adult entertainment site. The link showed a video of a “woman engaging in sexually explicit acts,” reports Philly .

The video received over 150,000 views and some comments were shown thanking the Drexel University professor for sending the link. However, most students were enraged.
Shocked by the email, several students reported the law professor to Kevin Oates who is the senior associate dean of students. Once the school continued to receive complaints regarding the emailed link, Drexel University decided to conduct an investigation.
Oates subsequently released a statement to inform students of their decision to place McElroy on administration leave while an investigation is underway. The statement stated as follows.
“Dear Students:
As you may be aware, some students erroneously received an email this morning directing them to a TWEN post that included some inappropriate material. We take this matter seriously and apologize for any upset it may have caused. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to speak to me, Professor Coleman, Dear Dennis, or Dean Diller.
McElroy has since been placed on leave pending investigation, which is apparently ‘required by Section 9 of Drexel’s Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Policy.’”
The law professor graduated from Harvard law school and has written several children’s books. She is also a regular contributor to several online blogs as stated on her website, www.lisamcelroy.com.
According to Mirror , McElroy appeared on the show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in 2010 and took home an aggregate of $5,000.
McElroy has yet to release any comments or statements regarding the school’s decision to place her on administrative leave or the adult link she emailed to her students. Messages were sent by reporters via her Drexel University’s email to get her side of the story, but she has not yet responded.
Information regarding the duration of McElroy’s administration leave has not been reported, but what reporters do know is that she will not be teaching at the university until the investigation is over.
