WWE News: Brock Lesnar And Roman Reigns End Tonight’s ‘RAW’ With A WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tug-Of-War
Tonight’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW promised a face-to-face confrontation between current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and the number one contender for Lesnar’s title, Roman Reigns. After three hours of a fairly decent show, we finally got our first face-to-face between Lesnar and Reigns since the night after the controversial Royal Rumble.
Brock Lesnar’s on-screen advocate, Paul Heyman, began the closing segment of the show by saying that if he hasn’t already sold the WWE fans on buying the WWE Network to watch Brock Lesnar give Roman Reigns the beating of a lifetime, well, then he didn’t know what else he could do. But, regardless of that, he then went on for the next couple of minutes to try to sell WrestleMania to the fans who aren’t already sold.
Heyman said more of the usual stuff, saying that Brock Lesnar “could, and he did beat The Undertaker at last year’s ‘WrestleMania,;” and that Lesnar “could, and he did destroy John Cena back at SummerSlam in August to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.” While Heyman was talking, nearly the entire crowd in attendance at the Staples Center were chanting Brock Lesnar’s name.
After Heyman was done making his point, Roman Reigns’ music hit, and he made his way to the ring. Reigns was — for the most part — booed. As Reigns entered the ring, Heyman exited the ring. Lesnar then stood face-to-face with the man he’s going to defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against at WrestleMania.
For a while, Lesnar just looked at Reigns, laughed, and held up the WWE Title, which was met with a thunderous ovation. Reigns then retaliated by snatching the WWE Title out of Lesnar’s hands, and took his turn holding up the title, which was met with thunderous boos. Lesnar then tried to pull the title out of Reigns’ grasp, but couldn’t, which resulted in tonight’s RAW going off the air with a WWE World Heavyweight Championship tug-of-war between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar.
If tonight was any indication, it appears that whether he re-signs with WWE or not, Brock Lesnar will be the crowd favorite at WrestleMania. So, if Lesnar has re-singed, WWE could very well have him defeat Roman Reigns this coming Sunday, and retain his WWE Title.
There’s still no official update on whether or not Lesnar has re-signed with WWE, and many people believe that it’s in Lesnar’s best interest to not sign with anyone until he becomes a free agent. The rumor was that WWE was going to do everything they could to re-sign Lesnar during tonight’s show, and if they did, it’ll likely be made public at some point this week.
