The iPad 3 release date is rumored to be sometime in March, but thanks to the Repair Labs at Fix-iPhones.com, Apple fans can get a sneak peak at the next generation of tablets.
The photo from Repair Labs is believed to be the back panel for the iPad 3. According to Apple Insider , the back panel shows that the next generation tablet will have a larger battery and may also have the display mounted differently
Judging from the photo, AI was able to deduce that the shape of the logic board will change from the iPad 2, the iPad 3 will have a larger battery, the camera will be “different,” and that the LCD display will be mounted in a new way. AI speculates that the new display mounts may account for the much rumored “retina display” that is anticipated for the iPad 3.
Repair Labs reports that the back casing isn’t any thicker than previous casing.
The Washington Post reports that Apple is expected to release the new iPad this Spring. Apple released the iPad 2 in March 2011 and the original model in April 2010.
While several rumors about the iPad 3 continue to circulate, some tech bloggers see the hype around the new tablet a little overblown.
iLounge wrote in January:
“Think iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S: this device so resembles the iPad 2 that differences are only obvious when they’re placed next to each other. From the back, you could walk past this new iPad on display and have no idea that anything had changed.”
Are you excited for the iPad 3? Do you think it will have 4G? A retina display? A better camera?
