New York Giants Super Bowl XLVI Champions, Team Website Announces Win Before Super Bowl Airs

Kickoff for Super Bowl XLVI is still hours away but that didn’t stop the New York Giants team website from announcing that they have already won the 46th annual NFL championship game.

After displaying the website page shown above the teams web portal was quickly corrected and the following explanation was given by the NFL:

“It is common practice for both teams to create web pages in advance of the conference championship games and Super Bowl. In this case, the hidden URL for the page was inadvertently available for a brief period of time while it was being positioned on the NFL server for possible post tomorrow night.”

The error was broadcast on Giants.com with the headline “The Giants are Super Bowl champions” along with an ad that led viewers to a Giants Super Bowl chapmions merchandise page.

Giants players have been talking up their win all week and so has New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady who told nearly 25,000 fans last week at a Patriots pep rally:

“We’re going to give it our best and hopefully we have a lot more people at our party next weekend.”

In the meantime extra precautions are being taken to make sure that both team websites feature the right information leading up to Super Bowl XLVI.

Are you surprised to learn about the snafu made on the Giants.com website and do you think the New York Giants are going all the way this year with that page being placed back online after the game has ended?
