Jimmy Fallon, Kelly Clarkson Duets Video Hits No. 1 On Most Popular On YouTube List [Video]
This video titled “History of Duets with Kelly Clarkson” from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon YouTube channel is so popular that YouTube lists it as their top video on the “Popular Right Now” by #PopularOnYouTube 200 videos, all of which have received a combined 99,972,146 views and was updated today, Tuesday, March 3.
Fallon decided to perform the duets with Clarkson, because as Kelly recently confessed, as reported by Us Weekly, she was surprisingly having a hard time finding duet partners, despite her record-breaking success with singing and writing hits.
“I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no. I’m not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people that I’m not going to call out, and that’s cool, but I don’t know. I ask good people, I don’t want to sing with crap people, so I mean, I ask people who are great vocalists, but I’m not going to point out anyone. I have asked several people… Sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they’re like, ‘If you get too close…’ I don’t know.”
While there’s no explanation as to whether fear, intimidation from her strong pipes, or other nefarious changes are keeping folks (save for Jimmy) away from dueting with Clarkson, her weight has become a topic of discussion in the media. As noted in the video with Fallon, Kelly has experienced weight gain due to the birth of her baby, River Rose, who was born nine months ago. This didn’t stop TV hosts like Katie Hopkins from giving Clarkson the business about her weight, as reported by the Inquisitr, which notes the cruel way that Hopkins mocked Kelly’s size.
Either way, the weight controversy didn’t stop Fallon from inviting Kelly onto his show, and the rundown of popular duets is proving to be a viral success, with more than 300,000 views on the YouTube video thus far, which was published on March 2. The unique idea for Jimmy and Kelly to perform a medley of the most popular duets of all time included Fallon doing his best Aaron Neville and Joe Cocker impersonations — holding his own with Kelly.
The famous duets that Fallon and Clarkson conquered included “I Got You Babe” by Sonny & Cher, “Mockingbird,” “Islands In The Stream,” “Don’t You Want Me” by The Human League, “Just Give Me A Reason” and other great duets.
