Heather Young, a 34-year-old mom from Chartiers, Pennsylvania, was arrested early Tuesday morning on charges of driving under the influence — which is not all that unusual in itself. But police say that not only was Young, who records show has a checkered past, to say the least, drunk, she drove while intoxicated with her young son in the car.
But Young’s shocking behavior didn’t stop there. In fact, it would be fair to say that the DUI and child endangerment charges she is now facing were only the beginning. Because police in Washington, Pennsylvania, didn’t even catch Young while she was allegedly driving drunk.
Actually, they were called to a residence on Donnan Avenue in Washington because Young was embroiled in a shouting match inside the apartment with 23-year-old Courtney Orgovan of Washington.
And what was Young doing at that particular apartment at about 1 a.m. Tuesday?
She drove there to take part in a group sex orgy, according to what witnesses told police . In fact, Young had already stripped at least some of her clothes off — with her son watching — and was preparing to have sexual relations with three other people there when she and Orgovan started screaming at each other. According to the police account, Orgovan became enraged that Young started to disrobe with her child present.
When police showed up, Heather Young was in the corridor of the apartment building, yelling at other residents there. When Patrolman Paul Becker first tried to take her into custody, she kicked him and spit on him. Then she spit at other officers on the scene as well.
But the Tuesday altercation was far from the first time that Young has run into trouble with the police, and not the first time that her disturbed behavior has put a child at risk. Among her many previous arrests was a frightening 2008 incident when police found Heather Young heavily inebriated in her car, which had two flat tires and was parked on a railroad track.
Young’s then-8-month-old son was found in the front seat next to her, in a child seat, but not safely secured in the device.
From Tuesday’s incident, Heather Young now faces a laundry list of charges, which in addition to the DUI and child endangerment charges also include aggravated assault, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, and to top it all off, indecent exposure.
She was also charged with child endangerment in 2012 stemming from some sort of altercation at the home of her child’s father. The father took custody of the boy, whose age and name were not released, after the arrest of Heather Young on Tuesday.
