‘Guardians Of The Galaxy 2’ News: Vin Diesel Reveals More Than ‘I Am Groot,’ The ‘Galaxy’ To Expand
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 news is beginning to be revealed little by little, with the latest update being from “Groot” himself. Vin Diesel was given the opportunity to tell us what it was he liked about director James Gunn, and revealed a few things about the first movie we may not have known.
While some fans criticized Groot for his repetitive dialogue, Vin Diesel revealed that the phrase “I am Groot” is more open to interpretation and doesn’t always mean the same thing every time. During one exchange in the first GotG, he and Rocket (Bradley Cooper) were seen arguing about helping Quill (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana). In spite of the tree-like character only saying the one phrase, we clearly heard Rocket respond to what Groot actually meant.
This means two things; As Vin Diesel revealed in an interview, Groot is more intelligent than he sounds, and Rocket is one of the few who can actually understand what he’s saying. With Rocket basically being a subject of experimentation and probably toting more than a few microchips in his head, the little guy is obviously much more than a cursing big-mouth himself.
The latest Guardians of the Galaxy 2 news has also given us the confidence of knowing that all five of the original heroes will be back. James Gunn stated that he will be expanding the roster as well as the “galaxy” next time in an effort to top himself.
One possible addition to the GotG cast includes Moondragon, the daughter of Dave Bautista’s Drax. James Gunn revealed that he wanted at least two female characters on the team next time, and that one is among the most likely, according to the latest Guardians of the Galaxy 2 news.
Something else we might get more of is a deeper look into who Peter Quill’s father was. The ending to GotG revealed that what we thought was the only human (Terran) member of the team was only half human, and with the opening of “Awesome Mix Vol. 2,” the possibility was rather heavily implied.

There were also some appearances from Planet Hulk residents in the first film, but the idea of a film centered on the planet has so far been shot down. We may see more from the characters in the next film though, as the Guardians of the Galaxy 2 story will encompass more characters and a wider scope.
