‘Halo: The Master Chief Collection’ Getting New Achievements, Fixes Over Next Two Weeks
343 Industries is still trying to get Halo: The Master Chief Collection working on the Xbox One. The developer provided an update Tuesday on what it has planned for the collection of the console’s signature shooter over the next couple of weeks.
The last update to the game was on December 22, when Halo 4’s Spartan Ops co-op missions were added to the game. The new missions came without any Achievements, however. That is something that 343 Industries will remedy with an update sometime this week.

The developer revealed the following information.
“We’ll be updating MCC to include new achievements for Spartan Ops, as well as some additional ones for multiplayer… These will become available this Thursday, 1/8.”
Spartan Ops also did not come with any matchmaking, forcing players to either play alone or find a friend or three to fill out the four-player co-op. Unfortunately, there’s no word on if this will receive an update as well.
Another update will arrive to The Master Chief Collection the following week, as well.
“We’ve continued this work through the holidays, and have multiple content updates in the works. Our next content update, which will address UI and a variety of other areas, is currently on track for delivery next week. We will provide additional info regarding the exact ETA and final details of the upcoming content update once the certification process is completed.”
As a recent Halo Championship Seriestournament revealed, The Master Chief Collection does still need work — lots of work. The opinion of some gamers on various forums is that the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta is running better than this bundle of updated older games. 343 Industries has expressed embarrassment and apologized in the past and continues to do so with this latest bit of news.
“Improving your experience with Halo: The Master Chief Collection remains our top priority, and we thank you for your continued feedback and reports on community forums and elsewhere as we prioritize updates for each CU. We will continue to provide the latest information via this thread.”
Another part of the apology is additional content and other goodies for The Master Chief Collection. Studio Head Bonnie Ross announced just before Christmas that 343 Industries was updating the Halo 3: ODST campaign to be added to MCC for free. A new free multiplayer map, nameplate, avatar, and a month of Xbox LIVE Gold are also being offered.
