Dr. Robert Crockett: Miami Children’s Doctor Arrested, Sex Assault On Teen Boy
Dr. Robert Crockett, a Miami pediatric doctor, was arrested and charged with sex abuse of a minor. The latest news report by CBS-Miami shows the Miami Children’s Hospital doctor sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy while on vacation in North Carolina back in the summer. The Miami physician is also known as Kemp Crockett and Dr. Robert Kemp Crockett III.
According to Star News, police became aware of the crime after the teen boy’s parents contacted them. They told authorities that the incident took place between July 30 and July 31.
A warrant issued for his arrest in Brunswick County indicates that Dr. Crockett is facing multiple charges of statutory rape and indecent liberties with a child. The well-known doctor is a pediatric emergency specialist. His office is located at 3100 SW 62nd Ave. Miami.
Jennifer Caminas, spokesperson for Miami Children’s Hospital told CBS that Dr. Robert Crockett had been on leave for several months but is now suspended due to the accusations.
“He is suspended while the investigation is under way. The hospital is an advocate for children and takes this matter very seriously.”
After turning himself in to law enforcement authorities, Dr. Robert Crockett, of Coral Gables, Florida, paid a $50,000 bail bond and exited the jail.
The sexual molestation allegations are a shock to people who know Dr. Robert Kemp Crockett—even many patients remember seeing the doctor over the years in the emergency room. Here are some of their reactions to the news.

Dr. Robert Kemp Crockett’s history shows that he attended Wake Forest University Bowman Gray School of Medicine. In practice for more than 30 years, Dr. Robert Kemp holds a medical license in Florida and North Carolina, according to his bio.
Robert Crockett is not the only doctor who has found himself in trouble lately. Just this week, Dr. William Lewek, a psychiatrist in Rochester, New York, was recently arrested for driving while under the influence of drugs. Dr. Lewek is already under investigation for a body that was found buried in his backyard earlier this year. The body was identified as that of Matthew Straton, who went missing months earlier. Dr. William Lewek is awaiting trial.
In Bremerton, Washington, Dr. Darren Chotiner, 46, was arrested earlier this month for allegedly raping several of his patients in his office during medical examinations.
