Robert Dietz: Sex Offender Arrested, Downloads Child Porn Using Starbucks’ Free Wi-Fi
Robert Dietz, also known as Robert Edward Dietz, was arrested on Saturday in Hillsboro, Oregon, for downloading child porn at a local Starbucks. According to FOX 12-Oregon, Dietz has a long history of arrests for the same offenses. The case broke wide open after police were tipped off that child porn was being downloaded at that location. Police watched him for about 8 weeks before moving in on him. At around 9 a.m., law enforcement officials caught him red handed at the Starbucks trying to download sexually explicit photos of children. He was using the free Wi-Fi and internet service at the Starbucks location.
Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department arrested the 150 pound man on the spot and charged him with two counts of encouraging child sex abuse-1st degree and violation of parole.
Robert E. Dietz was transported to the Washington County Jail. A check into Robert Dietz’ background shows that the 59-year-old man had been arrested for a similar crime in 2009, according to KOIN-6.
There is barely any public information available on the internet about Robert Dietz, making it very easy for him to fall through the cracks and assimilate into any neighborhood.
Starbucks locations are a popular stop for students, teachers, and any other member of the public to access the internet. Many sex offenders try to avoid public libraries since most require a library card and identification to use the computers for internet access.
According to Innocent Justice,
85% of child pornography possessors admit to having child sexual abuse victims and 80% of those who have had child pornography in their possession have admitted to having child sexual abuse victims.
Staggering statistics show that there are almost 800,000 sex offenders in the United States alone, and that most child porn is downloaded in the U.S. Another troubling find, sex offenders like to pick victims close to their home. Most people who commit sex crimes have never been convicted before but continue to offend, according to End Of The American Dream.
Some take the position that people who download child pornography should not be criminalized for only ‘looking’ at pictures. On the other side of the argument it is stated that people eventually act on what they feed their minds. The viewing of child pornography is also highly addictive and promotes the abuse and violation of children. In October, Inquisitr reported on the case of church pastor who had been arrested for sex abuse of a child. The documentaries: Capturing The Friedmans and Deliver Me From Evil touch on the subject.
