Warrior, Alabama: Burglary Victims Recognize The Thieves Who Robbed Them, Hold Them At Gunpoint Until Cops Arrive
Two thieves in Alabama found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time, when their victims recognized them from home surveillance footage and held them at gunpoint until police arrived, WLBT in Jackson, Mississippi is reporting.
To make matters more embarrassing for the thieves, they were caught by victims’ family members while another victim was being filmed about the burglary for TV cameras.
The scene played out in the town of Warrior, Alabama, about 25 miles north of Birmingham. The home of Sarah Wyatt and her husband, Chris, had been burglarized by three thieves – a woman and two men. The incident was caught on home surveillance camera: the victims can see the thieves knocking on the door and, after not getting an answer, kicking in the door. A little while later, the thieves exit with two TVs, and some of the family’s Christmas gifts, including some gifts for their one-year-old son, according to WBRC Birmingham.
As WBRC’s camera crew was talking to one of the victims about the burglary, members of the victims’ family recognized the thieves walking or driving by how the thieves were spotted is not clear, as of this post. The victims then held the thieves at gunpoint while waiting for police to arrive.
“They happened to drive by and we seen them drive by and we knew it was them and we stopped them.”
When confronted by their victims, the thieves tried to pretend that nothing was amiss.
“They tried to say that they were lost and we corrected them where they were.”
The victims held the thieves at gunpoint for a while, until police arrived and took two of the thieves into custody.
Fortunately for the victims, their belongings were still intact, meaning that their Christmas won’t be ruined after all. And, as it turns out, the thieves had burglarized another home that day – and that family’s belongings were still intact, too.
“They broke into another house an hour before this and luckily their stolen stuff was still in that vehicle.”
From time to time, would-be thieves will find that armed would-be victims are more than happy to turn the tables on them. For example, earlier this year, according to this Inquisitr report, thieves in Texas were stopped cold by an armed citizen exercising his right to open-carry.
The victims would like the people of Warrior to be aware that, though two of the thieves have been caught, one of them is still on the loose, as of this post.
