Taylor Swift Tweets Her Birthday Wish: Stop Implying She’s Gay!

Taylor Swift turns 25 this week and she wants but one “birthday present” from members of the media.

In other words, everyone tweeting and talking about whether or not Taylor Swift is hooking up with BFF Karlie Kloss can stop now.

The public demand comes following a weekend of furious speculation after grainy images and photos surfaced of Taylor and Karlie in what some witnesses SWEAR was an intimate embrace.

I reached out to eyewitness Kathy, known as @kathyparkk, whose photographs and videos are a large part of what sparked the mini-scandal.

She seemed pretty adamant about what she saw at the 1975 concert, with no intended malice behind sharing her images.

Kathy was very forthcoming about what it was she saw during the 1975 concert.

“[Taylor and Karlie] were hugging and dancing and whispering and drinking.

At one point, it really looked like they kissed, and all the girls around me thought so too and we were freaking out.”

Kathy admits that she saw Karlie’s boyfriend, which could possibly be enough to squash rumors. Surely if Taylor and Karlie were as deeply in love as suggested by the gossip mill, they wouldn’t be so bold in front of Karlie’s man.

The eyewitness has also stated that starting “drama” was never her aim when she posted pictures and video of Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss to the internet.

“I didn’t want to start any of this drama or speculation about Taylor’s sexuality.”

Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened.

Initially, it seemed the two young women weren’t going to address the lesbian rumors.

Buzzfeed ran a well timed story about Karlie Kloss’s man and Gossip Cop and Just Jared took up on behalf of Taylor after getting quotes from her public relations representatives.

Said reps shot down any dating rumors and called gossip about Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss “hilarious”.

But the birthday girl must find these rumors to be anything BUT hilarious if she took to Twitter to address them officially.

How is it that Taylor Swift blames the media for spreading these rumors when it was a random concert attendant that sparked the entire thing?

It could be because rumors about Swift’s sexuality go back further than this weekend.

But as Giana Ciapponi of Ravishly pointed out, gay or straight — it’s really no one’s business but Taylor Swift’s.

[S]exuality is extremely personal.

Even if you are “traditional” in every sense, I’d bet my entire bank account that you’ve done or said things in the private sphere of the bedroom that you wouldn’t share with the general public.

Remember: The “general public” includes virtually everyone you’ve ever known.

Yes, I agree that celebrities must sacrifice a certain amount of privacy in order to be famous. But why must their sexuality be addressed?

While this may be true, it doesn’t change the fact that every move made by celebrities aren’t just watched by the paparazzi. Sometimes it’s the Average Joe in the right place, at the right time, with the right phone.

As the photos and video have only served to heat up ongoing rumors, it’s highly unlikely that birthday girl Taylor Swift will cease to be the subject of gay rumors and heavy speculation anytime soon.
