Only In LA: High Speed Chase Ends With Man Fleeing On Skateboard, Reality Star Saving The Day [Video]
Only in Los Angeles can you see a high speed police chase take these kinds of twists and turns. Fortunately for the rest of America, the crazy ordeal was all caught on tape thanks to a CNN helicopter.
In the video, you see a standard high speed police chase underway. A stolen BMW is barreling down the highway a 90-plus mph with police following close behind. The vehicle can be seen cutting in and out of traffic before he slams into the back of another car. Instead of cutting his loses and turning himself over to the police, the man exits the vehicle with a skateboard in hand. The man then runs across three lanes of traffic before attempting to skateboard away into the sunset. Unfortunately for the thief, he is not a very good skateboarder.
In fact, CNN asked some local skateboard enthusiasts to rank the suspect’s skateboarding skills and his marks were poor. It appears that the man realized his skateboarding left much to be desired so he attempted to flee again on foot. However, in an unexpected turn of events, a red pickup truck can be seen cutting across traffic to stop the suspect. When the pickup driver’s first attempt fails, he drives over the sidewalk and pins the man in place and police are able to then arrest the suspect.
Who was the mystery pickup driver? A reality star of course! Luis “Lou” Pizarro, who starred in the now-cancelled truTV show, Operation Repo, was the man behind the wheel. When ABC7 asked Pizarro about the incident, he noted that “it was just instinct just to block the guy off.”
“I seen the guy running with a skateboard in his hand, and he’s running from the cops, they’re like right on him, there’s about six or seven cops, and he got on his skateboard and he started moving, and it was just instinct just to block the guy off, slow him down a little bit.”
