‘Star Wars Episode 7’ Plot Predicted By Mark Hamill… In 1983

The Star Wars Episode 7 plot may have been partially revealed back in 1983. An old interview with Mark Hamill touches on an idea that seems to be happening in The Force Awakens .

There was a moment in A New Hope (episode 4) that nearly every Star Wars fan probably remembers better than the address where they grew up. That moment was when Obi-Wan Kenobi faced off against Darth Vader, and the villain had something to say to him.

“I’ve been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you, I was but the learner; now I am the master.”

That last part is what might ring familiar to fans in the next film, as Hamill’s Luke Skywalker now plays an aging Jedi master teaching an apprentice the ways of the Force. The circle is now complete, and the learner has become the master in the Star Wars Episode 7 plot.

The difference is, of course, that Luke didn’t turn to the Dark Side the way his father did, even though he obviously had his moment of doubt aboard the death star.

Back in 1983, Mark Hamill was being interviewed on a U.K. talk show when he revealed a conversation he’d had with George Lucas.

“I owe him so much. He at one time said, ‘Would you consider playing an Obi-Wan type character, handing Excalibur down to the next generation?’ I said ‘When would that be?’ The time, he said, ‘Oh around 2011.’ I thought, gee, as much as I’d like to have a job lined up at the turn of the century, I was figuring out how old I would be at that point.”

The prediction wasn’t far off, it seems, with The Force Awakens set to hit theaters at the end of 2015, and Mark Hamill set to reprise his role, this time as a Jedi master teaching his own padawan.

As the Star Wars Episode 7 trailer hits theaters and the internet today, Abrams has also promised a taste of what is to come, with the main characters each getting a piece of the screen time, according to Mirror . It will possibly end with the Millennium Falcon as rumored by a leaked GIF image.

What else do you think will find its way into the Star Wars Episode 7 plot and trailer?
