Is Kitten Therapy Your Ticket To Purr-Adise? Beth And Howard Stern Say Yes [Video]
Raise your paw if the concept of kitten therapy sounds like the purr-fect antidote to stress. The meow-worthy idea came from a group called Soul Pancake, which crafted an enclosure for their kitten therapy stress relief experiment. And the result had even the most anxious A-types chirping with happiness, according to Buzzfeed.
How does it work? The stressed-out strangers entered the booth, sat on a pillow, put on headphones, and listened to purrs with their eyes closed. And then, as you can see below, the kitten party began!
Is there any science to kitten therapy? Renowned tough and terse talk show host Howard Stern and his soft, gentle wife Beth say yes. She told Yahoo! Celebrity that the two of them have fostered more than 70 kittens and special needs cats in the past year.
And to Beth, who hosts the Hallmark Channel’s Kitten Bowl and National Geographic’s Spoiled Rotten Pets, there’s something magical about furry felines. (You can watch a few meows from last year’s Kitten Bowl below.)
The Sterns own six cats of their own, and Beth recently authored a children’s book about a very special cat named Yoda that she and Howard took into their home and their hearts.
“Howard helped me with the storyline. He was right with me and gave me tons of input. We went through the first draft, I’d read it, and he’d be like, ‘You should change this.’ He’s brilliant. He’s my partner. And he’s my partner in rescue. He helps me with the fostering. We’re a good team.”
Now that the new cat, Yoda, has become a celebrity with his very own memoir, Beth says that the other cats (Apple, Walter, Leon Bear, Charlie, and Bella) have shown no jealously.
“They love Yoda. Everybody loves Yoda. He just saunters into the room and everybody loves him. He is so likeable and adorable,” said Beth.
Will Yoda the celebrity cat become kitty BFFs with Taylor Swift’s white cat, Olivia Benson? Beth said that it’s a possibility.
“Yoda likes everybody [laughs]. I think Taylor Swift’s cat is super beautiful, but I think that Yoda sees the beauty from within. He doesn’t care what she looks like. He loves Bella and she has one eye and is blind in that existing eye. So it has nothing to do with looks with him.”
However, Taylor Swift believes that her cat Olivia is also the cat’s meow, as the Inquisitr reported. The fluffy feline recently debuted on TV as the co-star of Taylor’s new Diet Coke commercial.
Taylor also recently exchanged “cat tails” with Ellen DeGeneres, as shown.
