Marvel’s ‘Black Panther,’ Chadwick Boseman, Says He Already Has The Perfect Body
When it was announced that Marvel was making a Black Panther film everyone was talking about who the right choice would be. Others said older actors like Djimon Hounsou, or Michael Jai White would be a perfect fit, while some insisted the role needed to go to the younger Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman beat out a ton of African American actors vying for the role, and it’s not too hard to believe why. After all he’s the go-to guy for biopics these days. Prior to being announced as part of the Marvel universe, he had success transforming into James Brown in Get On Up, and Jackie Robinson in 42.
While being interviewed at the Hollywood Film Awards, the actor wasn’t afraid to joke around, even though he had to keep most of his Marvel talk a secret. Apparently, it isn’t going to be that much of a stretch to play the Black Panther.
When E! asked about his training regimen, he kept relatively quiet and then joked, “How do you know it’s not kickin’ right now? I might be covering something up.” Besides what’s underneath his shirt, Boseman mentioned most of his training is “a lot of strength and flexibility, but I’m not going to say anymore.”
He did give out one minor detail and that is viewers will see him as the Black Panther before his solo film.
“I’ll be in Captain America 3. We’re preparing for that right now as well. We’re sort of beginning the work out for that.”
When the interviewer joked, “It doesn’t hurt to be a super hero,” Boseman replied slyly, “Well it could hurt. It could hurt. That could be part of the story, that it hurts to be a super hero.”
Three weeks back, Marvel broke the big news about Boseman scoring the role of the Black Panther for the 2017 film. At the time, Chadwick joined Iron Man’s Robert Downey Jr. and Captain America’s Chris Evans on stage to announce the news.
At the time he said, “I’m blessed to be a part of this Marvel Universe, and to work with you both, and I look forward to making magic together.”
Marvel announced that Boseman’s appearance as Black Panther is set for Captain America: Civil War before he receives his own film Marvel’s Black Panther, which is on schedule to release on November 3, 2017.
Marvel’s Kevin Feige spoke of the world of Black Panther. “Black Panther, and all of Wakanda is one of the most interesting characters in Marvel history.”
