WWE: Chris Jericho Says CM Punk Is Leaving His Wrestling Friends Behind
Chris Jericho always has some interesting stories about the WWE, but this time his story about CM Punk is just plain sad. According to Jericho, CM Punk is essentially leaving all of his old wrestling buddies behind, and has cut off that part of his life.
In a related report by The Inquisitr, one of Chris Jericho’s other interesting stories is when Vince McMahon fought Kofi Kingston for real while traveling in an airplane.
The latest WWE news going around the Chicago block says that the relationship between the WWE and CM Punk has only become worse with time. Although it was believed CM Punk, Vince McMahon, and Triple were attempting to hash out a deal when the WWE 2K15 debacle occurred, apparently nothing came of it, and perhaps the situation has only grown worse.
There’s also the rumor that Vince McMahon’s “rule” for Total Divas would prevent AJ Lee from being the Diva champion if she were to join the cast. Stephanie McMahon denies that rule exists in the first place, and AJ Lee says it was her decision to not be involved in Total Divas, though many of the cast members have insisted in interviews that the rule exists. As such, the rumors still persist that the WWE management is essentially punishing CM Punk indirectly through his wife.
If any of these nasty backstage rumors are true, this might explain why Chris Jericho told Figure Four Daily podcast that CM Punk has distanced himself.
“We used to talk quite often and not really about wrestling stuff…. We always had great chemistry and he’s one of my favorite guys to work with. And then when he left the WWE he never talked to me again,” said Jericho. “I never heard one peep or squeak or anything from him again. I reached out to him a couple times just about, you know, ‘Hey, I’m watching The Clash from ’78? or whatever and nothing. That’s his decision, and it’s kind of a drag. I understand professionally not wanting to be open but kind of leaving your friends behind? I don’t give a f**k if he wrestles or not. It doesn’t matter to me; it never did.”
When Figure Four Daily asked Chris Jericho if we would ever see a CM Punk WWE return, he bluntly stated that he did not know. But Seth Rollins was asked the same question recently, and he believes it could happen years down the road.
“Before WrestleMania 31 highly, highly unlikely. Down the road? Part of me was 100 percent sure he’d be back at some point but the longer he’s away, the more it makes me wonder that maybe he’s gone. He spent a good portion of his life dedicated to this business, it’s good for him to maybe get away.”
Do you think we will ever see a CM Punk WWE return?
