New DmC: Devil May Cry trailer shows Dante beating down waves of demons
Capcom has released an extended, “special” cut of the DmC: Devil May Cry trailer shown off at TGS a couple of months back, with quite a few new bits of gameplay added in throughout the video.
Developer Ninja Theory didn’t get the most positive reception for DmC: Devil May Cry when it was announced last year, due almost exclusively to Dante’s new look, but I can’t imagine very many will take issue with the gameplay on display in the trailer.
Plenty has been changed in Ninja Theory’s take on the Devil May Cry universe, but the part that matters, the action, looks to be very familiar. It’s still crazy fast-paced, it’s still over-the-top and it still looks like a whole lot of fun.
In an industry that is fond of releasing the same thing with small, incremental improvements year after year, it’s refreshing to see a developer that’s bold enough to make radical changes to an existing franchise. It remains to see if Ninja Theory’s DmC: Devil May Cry will actually be any good, but you have to at least hand it to them for being willing to try something new.
