Ferguson Protests Erupt Over Michael Brown Autopsy
Ferguson protests erupted once again in response to the Michael Brown autopsy results leaked to the St. Louis Dispatch. Mike Brown shooting protesters have promised to react with demonstrations similar to those which unfolded after the August 9 incident if Darren Wilson is not indicted.
Mike Brown shooting protesters marched from the corner of Canfield Drive and Florissant Avenue – just a few blocks from where the fatal shooting occurred– to the police department. About 100 to 150 Ferguson protesters called for the arrest of Darren Wilson and demanded “justice” for Michael Brown. A barricade near the Ferguson police department was erected to keep protesters at a distance.
Two Ferguson protesters were detained after water bottles were thrown at the police barricade. Approximately 50 protesters marched inside police department headquarters in Clayton, carrying signs and chanting. CNN reported that multiple other Michael Brown shooting protests were slated to occur in Athens, Ohio, Greensboro, North Carolina, San Francisco, Sacrament, Philadelphia, and New York City.
The Michael Brown autopsy reportedly concluded that the Ferguson teenager was shot at close range – a scenario which appears to support Darren Wilson’s version of events. As previously reported by The Inquisitr, St. Louis Medical Examiner Dr. Michael Graham said the Mike Brown autopsy report does support the contention that a “signification altercation” did occur inside Officer Wilson’s cruiser.
Ferguson protesters have allegedly used phrases calling for the killing of Darren Wilson. Before the Mike Brown shooting investigation had even gotten underway, Democratic Missouri Governor called for the “vigorous prosecution” of Darren Wilson – comments which quickly sparked a backlash.
A statement from Mike Brown’s family via attorney Benjamin Crump urged the protesters to remain peaceful.
“Regardless of the grand jury’s decision, the Brown family and our legal team ask again for peace and calm, even though we understand people may have feelings of anger or disappointment. We encourage people to take their frustrations to the ballot box, not the streets.”
When asked about the Michael Brown autopsy report, which is authentic according to both CNN and the St. Louis Dispatch, attorney Crump said, “Several independent witnesses indicated there was a brief altercation between Michael Brown and Officer Wilson at the patrol car. What we want to know is why Officer Wilson shot Michael Brown multiple times and killed him even though he was more than 20 feet away from his patrol car; this is the crux of the matter!”
Do you think Ferguson riots will occur again if Darren Wilson is not indicted in the Michael Brown shooting case?
