Oops! Sarah Jessica Parker Trespassed And Infuriated Residents [Video]
Sarah Jessica Parker did a big No-No. Sarah decided to use 66 Perry Street as the set for her Instagram Campaign photo shoot advertising her new line of SJP Collection of fabulous shoes. If that address doesn’t ring any bells, it is the location that was used in Sarah Jessica Parker’s most famous role in Sex And The City, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Sarah brought the lead character, Carrie Bradshaw, to stardom. Ironically enough, Sarah Jessica Parker’s character, Carrie, was a shoe fanatic, as well.
The iconic Sex And The City stoop used in Parker’s photo shoot was the home of Carrie Bradshaw. Only in reality it belongs to someone else. And that someone else is furious with Parker’s disregard to their personal residence and privacy requests as reported by Page Six.
While the owners agreed with SATC to use the stoop in the show, that time has long come and gone. However, due to the show’s incredible popularity, the stoop has become somewhat of a shrine, bombarded with constant tourists wanting to visit the location, get snapshots, take tons of selfies, and walk on the steps made famous in SATC. This has caused there to be large crowds in front of the residence most all the time.
Over a period of time, this has become an irritant to the folks who actually live in the townhome. The residents of the home had to actually go so far as to put a chain across the stoop with a sign that reads, “Do NOT go on staircase please,” as revealed by Cosmopolitan.
Cosmopolitan reports that in her Instagram photo, Sarah Jessica Parker is actually leaning over the chain, ignores the sign, and places her stilettos deliberately on the steps to take pictures promoting her shoe line.
Page Six reports that the President of the Perry Street Association, which covers the entire block and the address involved, Gerald Banu spoke out about the incident.
“I heard about the shoot. They didn’t get the permission from the owner. The situation with SATC visitors is still very intense. People who live here get upset that the sidewalks are constantly jammed.”
Banu goes on to reveal that Sarah Jessica Parker did not receive permission from the owners prior to her taking it upon herself to conduct the photo shoot, resulting in some very angry homeowners at that residence.
A source for Page Six gave shed some insight to the owner’s feelings about the unauthorized photo shoot.
“The owners are up in arms as they deal with relentless tourists, and SJP has ignored their requests for an explanation on how she could endorse the shoot, even though ‘no trespassing’ signs are posted. SJP used their house during the years of filming, and now won’t acknowledge that she and her company used the steps and facade, this time without permission, to promote her shoe line.”
It remains to be seen if Sarah Jessica Parker will continue to use the photos she obtained without permission to promote her line of shoes, as well as offer any kind of explanation or apology to the homeowners.
Gerald Banu of the Perry Street Association only has one final request for the future as reported by Page Six.
“The only thing I could suggest to SJP is that when they write the next script, please have Carrie move to a new address.”
