Nick Jonas All Grown Up, Loses The Purity Ring

Nick Jonas is not the little kid he once was when the Jonas Brothers first blew up on the Disney Channel. In fact, one look at him says that he’s certainly all grown up. A second glimpse and there’s something definitely missing from the younger Jonas — his purity ring!

As some of you may know, the Jonas Brothers became the butt of Russell Brand’s VMAs joke at the height of their popularity in 2008. Coming from a very religious background, the brothers admitted that they were all saving themselves for marriage. From a very young age, they promised the Christian abstinence organization group True Love Waits that they would abstain. To signify that, they decided to wear purity rings.

Back then, Nick opened up BBC News about Brand’s joke.

“For us it’s cool to see that he recognizes we are gentlemen. I think he did a good job. We saw him on ‘Conan O’Brien’ and thought he was hilarious.”

Since then, Kevin Jonas has become a husband and a father, middle brother Joe tossed his purity ring out years ago, and it looks like Nick has decided to follow in suit.

In an interview with Huff Post Live, Nick said that he’s had a very “intense” religious journey, but the ring is off.

“This is a real growth in me and not something I’m doing anymore. But I’ve got my set of values, things that are important to me now at this point in my life and that’s all that matters.”

He continued, “I’ve had an incredibly intense journey with faith and religion and my own growth. My belief in God is still very strong and important to me as a person and I think that’s all that should matter.”

As far as Nick’s personal life, the 22-year-old has been dating former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo since 2013. Before that, he was rumored to have dated Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, and Delta Goodrem.

Last year, Joe Jonas opened up about the purity ring controversy, and admitted that the whole thing overwhelmed him at the time.

“People were coming up to us, saying, ‘Thank you so much, I’m waiting because you guys are, too!’ And we just thought, ‘No! That’s not what we’re about.”

In the essay post, Joe detailed when he lost his virginity, how much pressure his felt wearing the purity ring, and growing up under a microscope.

It seems like Nick Jonas is the only brother to remain active in the industry. In addition to helping Demi Lovato out on tour, he’s signed to Wilhelmina’s modeling agency while juggling a solo career.
