Judy Greer, Morgan Spurlock to Host New Web Series on Yahoo!
Earlier today Yahoo! announced that it will begin premiering seven new Web series targeting women that feature such Hollywood talent as Judy Greer (Arrested Development), Niecy Nash (Reno 911), Morgan Spurlock (Super-Size Me) and others.
A few of the Yahoo shows for women include Spurlock’s Failure Club, which follows 10 adults with dreams, only one of whom will reach it, OMG! Now, an entertainment and celebrity news show hosted by Kristen Aldridge, Let’s Talk About Love hosted by Nash, Reluctantly Healthy, a health and fitness show staring Greer, and Ultimate Proposal, a show where host Cameron Mathison helps single people from all across America step up, take a knee, and deliver “the marriage proposal of a lifetime.”
“When you’re constantly on the go, health and fitness can sometimes take a back seat,” said Greer. “[The show] gives me the chance to share tips and advice about achieving and maintaining a healthy ‘on the go’ lifestyle with viewers who may face the same challenges that I do, and I think Yahoo!, with their audience of millions of women, is the perfect place to do it.”
Run times for most of the shows are around three and a half and five and a half minutes, Yahoo executives said.
In addition to the new web series, Mickie Rosen, senior vp of the Yahoo Media Network, also unveiled the launch of a beta version of a revamped video destination, dubbed Yahoo Screen, which she said would take over for Yahoo! Video and become the most comprehensive premium video content library on the Web.
According to Rosen, Screen will combine Yahoo video content with programming from around 70 partners, including Hulu, CBS, Turner Sports, Discovery, Fox News, Fox Business, CNBC, Funny or Die and ABC News.
“As the premier digital media company, we are at the forefront of online video programing and are continuing to build our leadership position,” Rosen said of Yahoo Screen. “This is next generation television, available anytime, anywhere, with something for everyone.”
