The latest season of Doctor Who just launched with the Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor. The BBC and Microsoft have teamed up to bring multiple skin packs to Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition based on characters from the “time-wimey” science fiction show.

The first Doctor Who skin pack for Minecraft on the Xbox 360 will arrive in September and cost $2.99 / £1.99 / €2.85 / $2.95AUS. It will include a skin based on the Capaldi’s Twelfth Doctor, his companion Clara, plus five other Doctors and their companions. Yes, this means you will be able to create a paradox in Minecraft by having Karen Gilan’s Amelia Pond on-screen at the same time as her Nebula character from Guardians of the Galaxy , which also has a skin pack available .
Some of the Doctor’s enemies will be available as skins too. For example, you can don the Dalek skin and run around a map screaming “Exterminate, Exterminate” at your friends. There’s no word on if there will be a Weeping Angel skin yet though and if you’ll only be able to move at night while wearing a skin.

There will be more Minecraft skin packs made available in the future according to the announcement on the Doctor Who website. Each pack will include at least six Doctors and “will be released regularly following the broadcast episodes in Series 8.”
“We’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans,” said Rikesh Desai, Digital Entertainment and Games Director at BBC Worldwide UK. “Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we’ve created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft.”
If you guessed that the Doctor Who skins aren’t coming to Minecraft: Playstation 3 Edition , you are probably right. Microsoft has made deals with various copyright holders such as Marvel to bring character skins and other content to the Xbox 360 version of the game exclusively.
There’s no word on if these skins will eventually be available for Minecraft: Xbox One Edition . We are still waiting for that release to be announced, but the Marvel skin pack deal does not extend over to the next-gen console. We’ll have to check if that is the case with the Xbox One Edition as well.
