Robin Williams May Not Be Included In His Final Film
Actor Robin Williams left a long list of films that we will remember him for, but sadly, he might not be able to contribute to the last film he worked on. Prior to his death Williams was voicing an important role in the Monty Python film, Absolutely Anything.
Star Simon Pegg is uncertain if Robin’s voice will be used due to possible unfinished work. Pegg sat down with The Telegraph, and revealed that his last role may not even be his last contribution to cinema.
“I’m not sure Robin had completed doing his voice in the movie. He was doing the voice of my dog and I hope that he had completed it because it would be a real shame not to have him in it. And of course there will be a degree of sadness there, but the work he did do would have been done with his usual verve and brilliance.”
Pegg spoke briefly about the actor’s death:
“It is a terrible loss. He was someone who we assumed to be a bright and vivacious and interminably happy man, but he clearly wasn’t.”
Although Robin’s name is already being used in the promotion of the film, it’s not yet known whether Williams completed all of his slated work, or if the work that he had done is usable. If he didn’t complete the film we imagine that Lionsgate will have to call on another actor to complete the work, or perhaps completely redo the work Williams had done.
We would suggest having the role removed, but if it’s very pivotal then it’s highly unlikely that that will be done. The one thing we do know is that Lionsgate will probably treat this manner with sensitivity as Robin’s tragic passing has touched millions.
Vanity Fair’s suggestion of a good voice actor to match Robin’s creative energy is voice actor Dan Castellaneta who played The Genie in the 90s television version of Aladdin. They also consider the extremely talented Jim Meskimen who was known to do impressions of actors, Robin included. Meskimen made a powerful tribute reading a poem about Williams’ enormity as a person in Williams’ voice.
Upon hearing of Robin’s death Simon Pegg like many others took to Twitter to pay his respects.
