Natural Enemies? Or Cutest Friends Ever? Watch This Mouse Curl Up With Snoozing Kitty
If the history of the world has taught us one thing, it’s that cats and mice hate each other. Mice fear cats — and cats just want to eat mice — or at least hunt them down and kill them. Right? Cat and mouse are natural enemies.
Not so fast.
Watch this video and then decide if there really is any such thing as “natural enemies,” because if a mouse and cat can get along like this, wouldn’t you agree that anyone can? This video is truly a case of “cuddling conquers all.”
The video — which as you’ll see was taken quite a while ago, but is more than worth sharing today — is all the more remarkable when you consider that scientific studies have shown that fear has a specific smell for mice. They secrete “fear hormones” when they sense danger, and they need to communicate that threat to other mice. And the scent of those hormones may actually smell like cat.
None of that bothers this fearless little mouse who wants only to snuggle up with this snoozing kitty. And the cat, well, we know how much cats can sleep — up to 18 hours per day — so this kitty is fine with cuddling with a mouse as long as he gets his shut-eye in.
So watch this video, which is so adorable it actually aired on America’s Funniest Home Videos, and you’ll see that if a cat and mouse can get along this well, there must be hope for us all.
