Woody Harrelson Could Be Replaced By Vince Vaughn In ‘True Detective’ Season 2 Spoiler

Woody Harrelson might have his True Detective replacement, a new Season 2 spoiler indicates.

Reports on Tuesday claimed that actor Vince Vaughn has been in talks to join the HBO neo-noir hit. Other True Detective spoilers indicated that Colin Farrell, Taylor Kitsch, and Garrett Hedlund were being considered for major parts in the show.

But as The Playlist notes, it wouldn’t be that odd to see Vince Vaughn take over for Woody Harrelson, who left the show along with co-star Matthew McConaughey after the first season.

The report noted:

Now, before you say WTF and LOLWUT, you should note that Vaughn’s recent movements behind the scenes makes this news not entirely surprising. While “Business Or Pleasure” –the kind of comedy you expect from Vaughn— is on the way, Vaughn has also wrapped on the crime drama “Term Life” co-starring Hailee Steinfeld. And at one point a year ago, he had been lining up several non-comedic projects including the thriller “The Risk Agent,” the Randall Wallace-penned “Gunslingers” and road adventure “Triple Time.” And let’s not forget the actor has “Psycho” and “The Cell” to his name.

Vaughn could have some big shoes to fill. Both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey were nominated for the “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series” Emmys for their Season 1 performances.

Woody said he planned on voting or his counterpart.

“It’s flattering to be nominated,” he said in a statement given to TheWrap, “but I have to throw my vote to Matthew, who I thought delivered the best performance of his life. Which is saying something.”

While there is no word if Vince Vaughn has actually signed on for True Detective Season 2, Woody Harrelson has a number of projects in various stages of production, including the final two movies of the Hunger Games series, Now You See Me 2, and the police thriller Triple Nine.
