Were Calvin Harris, Outkast, And Skrillex Shown Up At Lollapalooza By Cut Copy?
Lollapalooza 2014 officially wrapped up yesterday, but not before Calvin Harris took the stage to blow the minds of the music fans who traveled from all over the world to take in the major acts that are billed each year. This year, there was a record crowd on point to catch Calvin Harris in action, and according to Music Times, he most certainly did not disappoint:
“Calvin Harris was the highest-paid DJ in the world last year, and it’s easy to see where he’s been spending it. His stage setup is a massive wall of shifting lines and colors, complemented by the occasional blast of fireworks or just plain fire. The crowd obeys his every demand to “bounce.””
Along with Calvin Harris, other music industry heavy hitters to take the stage at Grant Park in Chicago include: Eminem, Outkast, Kings Of Leon, Skrillex, Gemini Club, and Nas.
Although reviews around the web are favorable for Harris, some sites, like Tone Deaf, are saying that the real showstopper came from Cut Copy. Here is a brief look at what Tone Deaf had to say about Cut Copy’s performance at Lollapalooza:
“Can you imagine how incredible it would be to close a stage at Lollapalooza? Well, that’s exactly what our own indie dance pride and joy Cut Copy did on Saturday night. And wanna know what makes this beam of pride even bigger and brighter? The Melbourne boys’ set clashed directly with the freshly reformed Outkast and the biggest name in EDM, Calvin Harris, and they still pulled a mega crowd.”
Another major draw for the festival was, of course, the newly re-formed Outkast, who had previously been on a musical hiatus lasting nearly a decade. The group also played at Coachella this year, giving Outkast fans all over the world hope that they will be working on a new album together.
Initial estimates are showing that the entire weekend attracted more than 200,000 attendees this year, which is close to the same numbers that the music festival drew last year.
