Lauren Bush Wedding This Weekend, George Won’t Attend
When Lauren Bush walks down the aisle on Sunday, don’t expect to see former president George Bush. George H.W. Bush and his wife, Barbara, will not be attending their granddaughter’s wedding.
The Daily Caller reports that George and Barbara won’t be attending the wedding because of the ceremony’s location. The Lauren Bush wedding is being held at a ranch in Colorado, and the Bush elders say the high altitude would be detrimental to their health.
But according to SheKnows.com, the altitude might not be the only reason that George and Barbara Bush won’t be attending. Lauren’s mother Sharron had a messy divorce with George W.’s brother, Neil. Apparently the two sides of the family haven’t reconciled yet.
The 27 year old bride is the niece of former president George W. Bush. A spokesman for the former president declined to comment on whether or not Bush had RSVP’d.
Lauren is marrying David Lauren, the son of fashion designer Ralph Lauren. So will she change her name to Lauren Lauren?
Lauren Bush told Harper’s Bazaar.
“I think it will be Lauren Bush-Lauren. That’s not final, but I think it’s nice to have the same name as your husband. I am sort of old-fashioned in that way.”
According to CBS, the Lauren Bush Wedding will be a black tie event, but with a western twist. The rehearsal dinner is planned for Saturday after a softball game, the wedding will be Sunday, and a rodeo will follow on Monday.
George H.W. Bush may not want to reconcile with the other side of the family, but how could he pass up a rodeo?
