Taylor Swift Shows Her Love Of Reading By Taking Part In READ Campaign

Taylor Swift is making headlines left and right this week for taking part in a variety of good-doing activities. Besides her recent donation of $50,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, the “Red” singer has also shown her love of reading by participating in the READ campaign.

The READ campaign is sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA). According to the ALA website, the READ campaign “conveys the pleasure and importance of reading” by photographing high-profile celebrities with their favorite books.

“Internationally recognized for more than 25 years, READ posters are purchased by libraries, schools, universities, and literacy-based organizations for display in reading rooms, classrooms, community centers, and other highly visible locations. Proceeds from READ posters—along with sales of other high-quality posters, bookmarks, gifts, and incentives produced by ALA Graphics—support the mission of ALA.”

According to People, Taylor Swift joins the likes of Rachel McAdams and Kelly Ripa in the READ campaign. In Taylor’s READ poster, the “Red” singer can be seen with her signature red lips paired with a red dress and some light flowing curls.

Taylor was photographed with the book The Giver, by Lois Lowry. Music Times reported that The Giver was the recipient of 1994 Newbery Medal and will be hitting the big screen on August 15, 2014, and for those of you who didn’t know, Taylor Swift is set to play the role of Rosemary in the movie adaptation.

Taylor Swift is one of the over 200 celebrities that have participated in the ALA Celebrity READ campaign. Some other big names include Seth Meyers, Orlando Blood, Keira Knightley, Cedric the Entertainer, Stephen Hawking, Salma Hayek, Bill Gates, Ewan McGregor, and Hugh Jackman.
