Melissa Molinaro Kim Kardashian Lookalike, Reality Star Alleges in Old Navy Suit
And the award for Most Egotistical Lawsuit in the History of Civil Suits Goes To…
Kim Kardashian, for suing Old Navy and alleging the company’s use of a Kim Kardashian doppleganger violates her “publicity rights.” The celebutante, who is famous for being famous but does not claim any talent other than fame, believes the use of Melissa Molinaro is a deliberate attempt to cash in on Kardashian’s looks and that the model is nothing but a stand-in for her more famous lookalike.
A suit was filed against Gap, Inc. on behalf of Kardashian in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging damage to the reality show star from the ads featuring Molinaro- which have gone viral on YouTube. The filing elaborates:
Kardashian “has invested substantial time, energy, finances and entrepreneurial effort in developing her considerable professional and commercial achievements and success, as well as in developing her popularity, fame, and prominence in the public eye,” the lawsuit states.
Gap, Inc., the parent company of Old Navy, has not commented on the suit. However, it seems rather unfair Kardashian target a woman who likely was not born into immense wealth, incredible privilege and the connections inherent with those circumstances; preventing her from working with major names because she was born looking that way. Do you think the suit sounds frivolous?
