Florida Woman Had Neighbor’s Home Demolished Because She Didn’t Like Them
A 62-year-old woman from St. John’s County, Florida, took the concept of being a bad neighbor to a new level when she employed a bulldozer company to demolish her neighbor’s home because, put plain and simply, she didn’t like her type.
When Ana Maria Moreta Folch contacted the local contractors she told them that the trailer home, and adjacent septic tank, were hers and that she had decided it was time to have them demolished. The contractor who came to do the job said he saw nothing untoward as Folch had a key to the home and no one appeared to be living there at the time.
When the real owner of the home showed up, she was shocked at seeing her home destroyed and contacted the police. The mobile home owner, Maria Gottfried, told the deputy she had owned the mobile home since 2006 and that, to her knowledge, had never had any kind of dispute with Folch.
Even though Gottfried never had a dispute with her neighbor and seemed to be on good terms, she also told the police that she never gave Folch a key to her home.
The arrest report said Folch had the trailer bulldozed because people who had lived there were not her type and she suspected they had broken into her car and stolen items. Amazingly, she added that she considered that what she did was a huge favor to her neighborhood. Damage to the property was estimated at around $25,000.
While Folch was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, which is a third-degree felony, she was released on Wednesday with her bail set at $10,000. Whatever happens in terms of the punishment she receives, there’s no doubt that she has taken the idea of falling out with your neighbors to a new level and has left people in the community scratching their heads for answers.
