Greta Van Susteren Pens Note to Jon Stewart, See What She Said
Greta Van Susteren had a few choice words for Jon Stewart, following Monday night’s rant on his The Daily Show, about Fox News’ apparent fixation on the Benghazi, September 11, 2012 attack which resulted in the death of four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
Fox has been pressing hard on the apparent less-than-transparent talking points the White House put out in the aftermath of the deadly attack and Greta has been one of the most outspoken hosts on the issue.
Van Susteren didn’t like Stewart’s suggestion that the conservative network — which is mentioned by Obama in almost every press conference — is more critical of the current president than it ever was with the previous administration.
The Benghazi terrorist attack has been front and center in recent weeks and the White House insists there was no cover-up — as some on Fox suggest — when UN Ambassador Susan Rice went on the Sunday talk shows, following the attack, and claimed the actions on 9/11/12 were the result of an inflammatory anti-Islam video posted on Youtube, which had enraged the Muslim world.
But Greta Van Susteren is being very clear about what she thinks of Jon Stewarts rant on her page, GretaWire.com:
“Besides the obvious — that almost all the Democrats in Congress voted for the war in Iraq and other media reporting — my simple note to Stewart is: 2 wrongs don’t make a right.”
Greta starts her “Note to Jon Stewart” by saying, “…I think (he) is smart and clever…but like the rest of us, not always right…but a comedian has, of course, way more latitude – we in the media should get it right.”
Van Susteren — who hosts the nightly news program On The Record With Greta Van Susteren — only had a short response for Stewart:
“Last night Jon Stewart opened his show with a segment about Fox News Channel’s aggressive coverage of Benghazi.”
“Stewart’s criticism of Fox News Channel is that Fox News Channel is more aggressive about President Obama and Benghazi than it ever was about President Bush and Iraq.”
On Monday night Stewart questioned the network’s criticism of the alleged cover-up of the Benghazi attack, while accepting the fact that the administration’s spin was “deplorable”, the late night host slammed Fox for not going after several other situations under the Bush administration, most notably, the lack of WMDs in Iraq.
But Greta Van Susteren and Fox News seem to be on a mission to get to the bottom of who knew what and when did they know it, when it comes to the Benghazi attack of 2012.
What do you think of Greta’s response to Stewart?
