A Monkey Got Paid Less For Doing The Same Work As His Neighbor. What He Does About It Will Crack You Up
Unequal pay for equal work. It’s been a hot-button topic for years, and still is today. And you hear lots of arguments on both sides about what “unequal pay” means, how important it is, what to do about it. And so on. But forget all that. These two monkeys will make the whole concept very clear for you — and in a pretty hilarious way.
This video is an excerpt from a TED Talk by Frans de Waal, a biologist at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The really funny part of this video starts around the 1:35 mark.
Professor de Waal’s specialty is studying the behavior of monkeys, chimps and other primates. He was picked by TIME Magazine as one of the world’s 100 most influential people in 2007 for his surprising and important findings on the similarities between primate and human behavior. The reaction of these monkeys to “unequal pay for equal work” is just one of them.
