Mariah Carey’s New Album Disappears From Release Schedule
Mariah Carey fans have a very good reason to shake their fists in anger right now.
After dropping a handful of singles from The Art of Letting Go over the past year or so, folks seemed ready and willing to cough up some cash for the album next month. The record was finally set for release on May 6 after experiencing major setbacks.
Unfortunately for Mariah Carey fanatics, the album is no longer hitting retail shelves as scheduled. In fact, The Art of Letting Go seems to have vanished completely from her record label’s website. At this stage in the proverbial game, it’s anybody’s guess when the songs will find their into stores.
The folks at Popdust theorize that the latest musical offering from Mariah Carey may have been given the boot following the poor performance of her latest single. “You’re Mine (Eternal)” officially stalled out at number 88 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart before completely falling off. Since nobody seems to care about the stuff she’s releasing these days, Island may have decided to shelve the album altogether.
Carey’s latest effort has definitely hit some bumpy roads since the first single “Triumphant” arrived back in 2012. Although the song was reportedly the lead single from her then-untitled album, the collection of tunes never arrived. More singles soon followed, though none of them really left an impression on casual fans. The Art of Letting Go was ultimately delayed until May 6 of this year.
For the moment, it’s unknown when Mariah Carey’s 14th album will see the light of day. Music Times points out that the label hasn’t rescheduled the record as of this writing. Considering she hasn’t developed a hit single off the album, there’s a very strong chance that the singer and her producers are currently headed back to the drawing board.
Fans are understandably irritated about the constant delays surrounding the album. Before news of the recent release date fiasco bubbled to the surface, supporters lashed out against Carey and manager Jermaine Dupri for all of the issues associated with the record.
“Throwing a ‘radio a** kiss party’ and telling lambs to change their screen names to #May6 is not really sufficient to breathe some life into, and kick start, the most drawn out album release in her career,” one particularly distraught fan wrote on Twitter.
While the backlash forced Dupri to jump to Mariah Carey’s defense, the singer has yet to address the recent delay or fan irritation about The Art of Letting Go. However, she did take a moment to share some photos of her kids taken during the Easter holiday.
