Emma Roberts To Return To ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’
It’s official — Emma Roberts is returning to American Horror Story for its upcoming season, American Horror Story: Freak Show. It’s not a huge surprise that Roberts would return to the series, but one that’s certainly welcomed. Roberts was a new addition to the series during last year’s American Horror Story: Coven, and to the delight of weary fans, the actress fit right in.
Each season there’s a question of who in the cast will return to the show, seeing as characters and the show’s premise change from season to season. During Paleyfest it was confirmed that Emma Roberts will definitely return for her second season on American Horror Story. Ryan Murphy, the co-creator of the series, attended Paleyfest and answered some questions surrounding the upcoming season:
“We’re going to freak you and scare you! Every person on this stage is coming back.”
In addition to Emma Roberts, Murphy was also referring to Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Frances Conroy, Jamie Brewer, Denis O’Hare, and Evan Peters. Although fans were excited that Emma Roberts would be returning, there was also a new cast member that garnered a huge amount of excitement. It was announced that veteran actor Michael Chiklis would be joining the cast for the fourth season of American Horror Story.
As stated, both Emma Roberts and Evan Peters were on hand during the 2014 Paleyfest on March 28, to speak about the season of American Horror Story that just passed and the advantages to working together throughout the season of American Horror Story: Coven. Peters said working with his fiancé Emma Roberts is “awesome.”
“It’s really amazing. You’re at set and you’re in a city that you don’t really know that well. It’s nice to have your best friend there to go to dinner with and check out the city.”
Evans continued:
“On set if you’re having a bad day or whatever, you can go to somebody and talk to her and she’s right there. You don’t have to wait until you’re done working, so it was nice.”
Murphy said of the previous season that wrapped:
“This was a season about female empowerment.”
Brad Falchuk, the co-creator also added to Murphy’s statement:
“Each season is about something behind the genre, and this season was about women, and about mothers and daughters. You can’t have a more female horror genre than witches. If you want to tell a female story, there’s no other choice.”
American Horror Story: Freak Show will center on a carnival. The cast is set to return to New Orleans to film the upcoming season.
