While I am pretty high on how the New York Giants went about their 2011 draft, I see a glaring hole in their offense and it comes at RB. Ahmad Bradshaw was pretty good rushing for 1,235 yards, but he also lost six fumbles. Brandon Jacobs has been supplanted as the starter and is due 4.65 million dollars for the 2011 season. That seems like a big chunk of change for a guy who cannot win the starting job. Bradshaw is also a free agent so something needs to be done here. I seriously doubt seventh round pick Da’Rel Scott is the answer here so I expect them to do something in free agency.
The other concern here is at receiver. It was once stocked full of young talent but injuries killed this team in 2010, and we still do not know when Steve Smith will be ready to play again. They stop gapped here last season with off the street guys, but one or two higher tier free agents might make a lot of sense for them. I also see a glaring hole at center. Shaun O’Hara played in only six games last year and is 33, and in the final year of his deal. Rich Seubert stepped in last year and played at a high level, but an injury in the regular season finale leaves his status as uncertain. The Giants might need some free agent help here.
Along the defense their are a few concerns, and a few places where they could use an upgrade but by drafting Prince Amukamara they have insured great depth in their defensive secondary. I could see this team looking at a few free agent OLB, but that is an approach that has not netted this team much success in the past.
