Most Desirable Woman 2014: Who Knocked Jennifer Lawrence Off The Top Spot?
The Most Desirable Woman of the year managed to pull off quite a feat — she not only starred in television’s hottest show last year, but she was also able to dethrone Jennifer Lawrence from atop the list of women deemed the most attractive.
This week AskMen.com unveiled its list of the Top 99 Most Desirable Women of the Year, which included women from the worlds of film, business, sports, comedy, fashion, music, and philanthropy.
To determine the Most Desirable Woman, more than 1 million votes were cast internationally during a 45-day voting period. AskMen.com’s editorial teams in Canada, the US, the UK, and Australia came up with a field of 225 candidates.
This year’s Most Desirable Woman was actress Emilia Clarke, who stars as Daenerys Targaryen on the television program Game of Thrones. The 26-year-old Clarke was actually one of three Game of Thrones actresses to make the list, joining Oona Chaplin and Rose Leslie.
Television stars were well-represented on the Most Desirable Women list. Community‘s Alison Brie took the No. 2 spot, while Sara Hyland from Modern Family, Shailene Woodley from The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and Aubrey Plaza from Parks and Recreation all made the top 10.
The list seemed to be heavily tied to career achievement — those that had a breakthrough in 2013 saw their stock on the list rise accordingly. Kerry Washington, who earned acclaim for her roles in the ABC drama Scandal and the Quentin Tarantino movie Django Unchained, jumped from No. 47 to No. 7.
Emma Watson, who moved beyond her Harry Potter days with appearances in The Perks of Being A Wallflower and The Bling Ring, jumped from No. 29 last year to No. 5 on this year’s list.
Last year’s Most Desirable Woman saw the trend work against her, however. Despite critical acclaim from her appearance in American Hustle and a blockbuster in the Hunger Games series, Jennifer Lawrence fell to No. 4 on the list.
