The United Football League released its 2011 schedule, and while it does contain many must see contests we are also seeing the limitations of a five team league. The next goal for this league beyond surviving has to be expansion to eight teams. Once there I really think this team could make some noise as the unofficial minor leagues of the National Football League. The other thing to remember here is the Florida Tuskers were contracted, and their players were given to the Virginia Destroyers . So on one hand this is the Tuskers, but really it isn’t.
The first game in Destroyers history will be a home game and the kickoff game for the 2011 UFL season. They will take on Jerry Glanville and the Hartford Colonials on Saturday August 13th at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. The very next week they will move on to Omaha and the Nighthawks. Week Three is their bye week, and week four sees the Nighthawks coming to Virginia. Week five is a trip out west to face the Sacramento Mountain Lions, and week six is a trip to Las Vegas and the Locos. In week seven they will host the Mountain Lions. Another bye in week eight and the finish up the season at Hartford and hosting the Locos.
All in all it looks to be a tough schedule. Like every other UFL team they will face the 2 time UFL champion Locos twice, but both games against the Mountain Lions come late and that is when that team usually gets hot. The consecutive weeks out west are also a tough stretch this team will have to get through.
