A recent study has revealed that the number of skilled immigrants in the United States now outweighs the number of unskilled immigrant laborers.
According to the report 30% of immigrants have earned a bachelor’s degree, while 28% of immigrants have failed to earn a high school diploma.
The jobs report was created by the Brookings Institution and the report does not focus on the “legal status” of immigrants. The report points to highly skilled workers who have immigrated from countries such as India and China as reason for the improving numbers.
According to an immigration expert:
“New college graduates are faring very poorly on the labor markets, and what the report is telling us is that we’re bringing in a high number of workers to compete with them.”
