Olivia Newton-John Las Vegas Residency Announced

Olivia Newton John has announced that she will perform a residency at Las Vegas this summer.

The 65-year-old actress announced on Tuesday that she will headline the Donny and Marie Showroom at The Flamingo for 45 shows. These performances will begin on April 8, and are scheduled to continue over the following months.

The show will be entitled Summer Nights, and it will see Newton John sing several classic Grease songs, including “You’re The One That I Want” and “Hopelessly Devoted To You.” She will also perform several of her own numbers, including “Physical,” “Let Me Be There,” and “I Honestly Love You.”

In the past, Las Vegas audiences have lapped up nostalgia acts, and the likes of Shania Twain, Boyz II Men, and Donny and Marie Osmond have repeatedly drawn large crowd to theaters. Tickets to watch Newton-John in Sin City will start at $69, and go on sale on Friday.

Newton-John was originally slated to play at the Flamingo in Las Vegas in 2013, however the death of her sister forced her to postpone these concerts.

The British-born Australian singer and actress has enjoyed a remarkably successful career. She has picked up four Grammy awards, and has scored five No. 1 and ten other Top Ten Billboard Hot 100 singles, as well as two No. 1 Billboard 200 solo albums.

She has also seen 11 of her singles and 14 of her albums be certified gold too. All in all, she has successfully crossed numerous genres, including pop, country and adult contemporary, and she has sold a staggering 100 million records across the globe. However, for most people, she’ll still always be Sandy Olsson from Grease.

Last November, Newton-John’s daughter, 27-year-old, Chloe Lattanzi, admitted that her mother’s fame had left her feeling inadequate in comparison.

Lattanzi revealed that she has suffered an eating disorder, substance abuse problems, and she also went through a severe mental breakdown at the age of 18.

She told the Daily Mail at the time, “Fame totally messes you up. I don’t blame my mother for my problems, but I would never want to be famous or raise a child of my own around the cult of celebrity. It ruins lives.”

Lattanzi added, “I had anxiety attacks and needed to find a way of feeling in control of something. Food was the one thing I could be in control of.”

Newton-John was Chloe’s rock throughout her ordeal, and she concluded by stating, “Despite how painful the circumstances were, I felt so lucky to have someone like my mum with me to lean on and cry with.”
