Megan Pettine Tweet About Cleveland Browns Because She Doesn’t Like Their Color Scheme?
Megan Pettine sent out a tweet last week about the Cleveland Browns that went viral. That’s usually no big deal, people laugh about the Browns all the time. This time was different. The Megan Pettine tweet came from the daughter of newly hired Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine.
As reported by The Inquisitr on Thursday, Mike Pettine was hired to be the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns. It came as no real surprise to the media because the interview process with Mike Pettine had already became widely known. How? Twitter, of course.
Megan Pettine’s tweet, which has since been deleted, said, “the interview went well and he’s going back for a second! It’s the browns.. but hey still pretty cool.” She was writing to a friend and didn’t think her tweet about the Cleveland Browns would be such a big deal. Boy, was she wrong.
It was only a matter of time before the Megan Pettine tweet went viral. It was causing a stir in Cleveland, but when Mike Pettine actually got the head coaching job, it went national. ESPN got wind of the story and talked about it on SportsCenter and the Keith Olberman show. Megan Pettine is becoming a social media poster child for what not to do as the daughter of an NFL coach.
During Mike Pettine’s official press conference to announce his hiring, he was obviously asked about his daughter’s ill-advised tweet. His response?
“I’ve been waiting for this question. We had a very long father-daughter chat after that one. She learned a very valuable lesson in the power of social media. She was mortified. [She] called me hysterically crying one day after it happened.”
Mike Pettine went on to say that his daughter Megan grew up in Baltimore while he was a coach there for the Baltimore Ravens. Megan Pettine learned to hate the Browns as a Ravens fan and maybe there could be some forgiveness for the unwise tweet. Mike also poked fun at the Browns’ color scheme, saying they don’t really match the wardrobe choices of his 19-year-old daughter.
Some Cleveland Browns fans shared their thoughts about Megan on Twitter.
Megan Pettine obviously knows what it’s like to be a Browns fan. I absolutely love it.

Why be upset with Megan Pettine? Apparently multiple NFL coaches said worse about #Browns coaching job.

Megan Pettine should be forced to eat a giant bag of dog biscuits. #GoBrowns

Megan Pettine and her tweet will probably be forgotten in a few months, especially when the Cleveland Browns start playing football again.
