Tamera Mowry: I’ve Been Called ‘White Man’s Whore’ For Interracial Marriage
Tamera Mowry said she has been called a “white man’s whore” and endured other racist comments online for her interracial marriage with a Fox News correspondent..
Mowry has been married to correspondent Adam Housley for the past three years, and said during that time she has been bombarded with racism and ignorance online.
She opened up about the torrid of racist comments during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, wiping tears as she spoke about it.
“I’ve never experienced so much hate ever in my life,” Tamera Mowry told Oprah Winfrey. “I get called, ‘White man’s whore,’ the new one, ‘Back in the day, you cost $300 but now you’re giving it to ’em for free.’ Stuff that, me as a person, could never even fathom. I can’t even think of these words. It’s very hard for me to think of it because I’m a product of it. My mom is a beautiful black woman and my dad is an amazing white man. I grew up seeing a family. I didn’t grow up seeing, ‘ooh a n***er with a white person!’ So it’s very shocking to go through this.”
But Tamera Mowry said the comments have not gotten her her down, saying she is proud to be in the relationship based on love.
“I love my husband so much,” Mowry said. “I love my family. I love our dynamic.”
Tamera Mowry and her sister Tia recently announced that they would no longer be continuing their reality show, Tia & Tamera, which launched on Style Network in 2011. They did not divulge the reason for leaving the show.
The show featured the Mowrys in their home life, including Tamera and husband Adam Housley.
“Wanted to say Thank You for all the love and support. But most of all welcoming me, my husband, n my son into your homes for 3 seasons,” TIa Mowry wrote in announcing the conclusion of the show.
While Tamera Mowry may be staying out of the public eye for a bit, her sister Tia recently developed the pilot for a comedy series called Instant Mom(working title) that was picked up for a 13-episode season order by NickMom.
