Jodie Sweetin Pays Off $53K Tax Bill, Puts Life Back On Track
Jodie Sweetin is all even with the IRS after paying off a $53,000 debt she owed Uncle Sam.
The former Full House actress was hit with a tax bill for $53,626.29 for income tax she failed to pay in 2009, but has since been able to repay her debt to the US government.
The clean tax bill is part of a turnaround for Jodie Sweetin, who was once mired in meth addiction but now has gotten clean and put her finances in order.
Last year Jodie let go of some more of her troubled past, filing for legal separation from her third husband, Morty Coyle. She filed in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for the couple’s 2000 Toyota Avalon. Jodie also asked that her husband split the couple’s $200 Kohl’s credit card balance.
Sweetin and Coyle have a 2-year-old daughter together, Beatrix. Jodie has asked for full custody.
After announcing the split Jodie Sweetin reached out to fans to thank them for standing by her.
“Thank you to everyone for being kind and supportive… I really appreciate all the fan love. Life can have it’s challenges, for sure!”
Like many child actors, Jodie Sweetin got an early introduction to drugs, alcohol, and partying. In her 2009 memoir she recalls getting so drunk at co-star Candace Cameron’s wedding that she had to be carried out.
“I probably had two bottles of wine, and I was only 14,” Sweetin wrote. “That first drink gave me the self confidence I had been searching for my whole life. But that set the pattern of the kind of drinking that I would do.”
By the time she reached high school, Jodie had moved on to doing ecstasy and graduated to cocaine in college.
“I wanted to prove that I could get more trashed than anyone. There were times I did so much coke, I’d be there laying there, getting sick and thinking ‘I’m going to die.’ But I didn’t care.”
But Jodie Sweetin has now been clean for several months, even working at a rehab clinic.
