The Royal Wedding: Order of Events


We’re now hours away from the wedding of H.R.H. Prince William and Kate Middleton, and like all good Royal events, there’s an order to things.

All times are local (London) time which is +1 GMT. Take -5 for US East, -8 for US West, and +9 for Australia East Coast.

Between 8.15am and 10am: General congregation arrive at Westminster Abbey, along with prime ministers and heads of Commonwealth countries.

10.15am: Prince William and Prince Harry arrive at the Abbey.

10.20am: Kate Middleton’s mother, Carole, and brother, James, leave Goring Hotel for the Abbey.

10.38am: Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall leave Clarence House for the Abbey.

10.40am: Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh leave Buckingham Palace for the Abbey.

10.48am: Bridesmaids and pages leave Goring Hotel for the Abbey.

10.51am: The bride, accompanied by her father Michael, leaves Goring Hotel and heads for the Abbey.

11.00am: Marriage service begins and is relayed by speakers along the route.

12.15pm: Carriage procession of bride and bridegroom, with a captain’s escort of the Household Cavalry, followed by the Queen’s procession with a sovereign’s escort of the Household Cavalry, leaves the Abbey for Buckingham Palace.

12.30pm: Bride’s carriage procession arrives at Buckingham Palace.

12.40pm: Members of royal family and foreign royal families arrive at Buckingham Palace.

1.25pm: Queen and bride and bridegroom, together with their families, appear on the balcony.

1.30pm: Fly-past by the Royal Air Force and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
