Draft day decision makers: St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams will once again turn to General Manger Billy Devaney. This will be his fourth draft run for the Rams and so far he has done a pretty good job on draft day. Devaney has been working in NFL front offices since 1990. He began his career with the San Diego Chargers. There he was the Director of Pro Personnel. He went on to work for the San Francisco 49ers for three years before working for CBS. From 2006 to 2008 he was an assistant to Rich McKay in Atlanta. Since 2008 he has been with the Rams.

Since coming there he has hired Steve Spaganoulo as his head coach, and totally rebuilt the Rams front office. In the draft he has made 26 draft picks. Of them 23 have started at least one game. Of course none of played in a pro bowl, and only 7 are starters. 14 more are backups, and only four are on other teams. None of his picks are out of the NFL as of yet.

The drafts before Devaney took over were pretty awful and it left this team with a core group of players. Devaney has done a very good job of rebuilding this team on and off the field. His best picks so far include QB Sam Bradford, LB James Laurinaitis, and DE Chris Long. If he can deliver another strong class it may put the Rams into the NFL playoffs.
