Hulk Hogan ‘Opened A Lot Of Doors’ For TNA Wrestling, Says Dixie Carter
Hulk Hogan definitely helped open doors for TNA Wrestling, says Dixie Carter.
The wrestling organization’s president recently sat down for an interview with the folks at Sports Illustrated. In addition to discussing TNA Wrestling’s decision to head back to Orlando, Carter opened up about her time with the wrestling legend.
When asked if she felt Hulk Hogan was worth signing, the TNA president explained that he definitely helped “open a lot of doors” during deal negotiations. In other words, Hogan was most certainly worth it.
Carter said of Hulk Hogan’s involvement with the organization:
“When you’re about to lose a deal in an international territory and one phone call from Hulk Hogan makes a man who doesn’t even speak your language melt and you get your deal back, that carries a lot of weight. There’s not another guy out there who could do that. If we did anything wrong with him, we used him too much on television. If he stayed with us, you’d probably see less of him.”
Unfortunately for fans, Hulk Hogan is no longer signed to TNA Wrestling. According to 411mania, there’s reportedly no interest in re-signing the legendary wrestler at this moment in time. Of course, this could always change at some point down the road. However, Hogan also said he has no plans to return right now.
Not only did TNA Wrestling recently bid farewell to Hulk Hogan, the organization also said goodbye to a few other talented individuals on their roster. During her conversation with Sports Illustrated, Dixie Carter discussed why these wrestlers parted ways with TNA.
She explained:
“Some people were let go… They didn’t resonate. They didn’t move the needle or the contract they wanted wasn’t something that was good for this company. Sorry, but this company has to be in business in 10, 20 years from now. I have to run a company and grow it. I’m to the point right now where things have to be a certain way for us.”
If you’re concerned about TNA Wrestling’s future without the presence of Hulk Hogan, then you can rest easy for the moment. Carter said the organization’s deal with Spike TV has helped keep them going strong over the years.
“Once we got on Spike, we changed a lot of things and our revenues grew. We’ve been cash flow positive for the last four or five years. After that point, Panda stopped putting money in the company. We’ve funded it with every dollar we’ve made and maybe that’s kept us from growing quite as fast,” Carter said.
Are you disappointed that Hulk Hogan probably won’t return to TNA Wrestling?
