Brazilian Student Catarina Migliorini Auctioning Virginity Again After Failed First Attempt
Catarina Migliorini, the Brazilian college student who attempted to sell her virginity last year, is putting herself back on the auction block.
“Well, after being featured by so many media outlets in so many countries, I decided to actually auction off my virginity,” the 21-year-old told The Huffington Post.
Migliorini sold her virginity for $780,000 in October 2012, and planned to use the money to build houses for the poor in Brazil. She said she saw the auction as a business, and that she didn’t consider herself a prostitute.
“If you only do it once in your life then you are not a prostitute, just like if you take one amazing photograph it does not automatically make you a photographer,” she said. “The auction is just business. I’m a romantic girl at heart and believe in love. But this will make a big difference in my area.”
In July, Catarina Migliorini claimed that she was defrauded by Justin Sisely, who was supposedly filming her story for his documentary, Virgins Wanted. When she went to meet “Natsu,” the 53-year-ol Japanese man who placed the winning bid for her virginity, at a restaurant in Sydney, she said he didn’t match the description Sisely gave her. The two never had sex, and she said she believed Natsu was made up.
“I felt I was a victim… I was misled by Mr. Justin Sisely,” she said. “I believe he is trying to defraud me and others.” A young man named Alexander Stepanov was “sold” for $2,600 to a Brazilian woman.
Sisely, however, denied Migliorini’s claim that she did not consummate the deal and said he had “footage to prove otherwise.” He also said Migliorini breached her contract as an actress.
Catarina Migliorini set up her own website, VirginsWanted2.com, for her second attempt. The auction ends December 12, with the minimum bid set at $100,000. Migliorini told Brazilian website PurePeople that she hopes to raise at least $1.5 million.
Migliorini’s mother, Mary, said she is shocked by her daughter’s attitude, and that the family does not approve of her trying to sell her virginity. She added that she loves her daughter unconditionally, but that she does not understand her intentions.
Since the first auction, Catarina Migliorini has become a local celebrity and a Playboy cover girl. Her auction has spawned several copycats, including an 18-year-old Siberian named “Shatuniha,” who recently sold her virginity for $27,000.
