Justin Bieber ‘Bad Day’ Single Soars Amid Brazil Brouhaha
Justin Bieber’s new, aptly named “Bad Day” single is riding high on multiple iTunes charts around the world, as widespread reports on his exploits in Brazil on the South American leg of his Believe tour continue.
The 19-year-old released his fifth single from his Music Mondays series on Sunday (Nov. 4). Since then, the lovesick R&B mid-tempo has topped iTunes in Sweden, Argentina, Norway, Chile, Israel, Holland, Turkey, Argentina, Poland, Brazil, Portugal, Philippines, Singapore, Belgium and other territories.
At press time, “Bad Day” is No. 3 on iTunes US with Eminem’s “The Monster feat. Rihanna” at No. 1 and Lady Gaga’s “Dope” at No. 2.
Similarly ripe tales of Bieber’s “wild weekend” in Brazil are also riding high, although E! News latest update indicates some of the hysteria over the singer’s exploits isn’t only confined to his fans.
Despite being labeled a “brothel” and “whorehouse” by the New York Post’s Page Six and multiple outlets, the Canadian’s Friday (Nov. 1) visit with a pal to Rio de Janeiro’s Centauros club and later sheet-draped exit with bodyguards during which his identifiable wrist tattoo was exposed in photos taken by waiting paps, has been explained as a misunderstanding.
“A source close to Bieber tell us that he just thought that he and his crew were visiting a private club,” E! News reports.
A second source from Centauros adds, “It’s more like an ‘old-fashioned gentleman’s club.’ It is not over-the-top nice, but it isn’t sleazy, either. It has a dance floor. For what it is, it is high end and it’s not cheap to get in there. There is an entrance fee. Playboy types go there and local businessmen and tourists.”
Gist-wise, these explanations are identical to those given to Mail Online, Gossip Cop and the Post.
Photos and sources revealed two females left the club with Bieber and his crew and were driven to his hotel in a separate vehicle. It’s reported both women work at Centauros. A club source told E!,
“[Centauros is] like a bar and club [combined]. The girls that work there—some have clothes on and some kinda don’t…They are all in there to make money. They don’t work for the club.”
Into the mix of this, Brazilian website EGO and several national tabloids claim Bieber and his tour crew were “kicked out” of Rio’s Copacabana Palace hotel for hard partying, disturbing other hotel guests, and the singer’s alleged attempt to enter the hotel with two prostitutes.
However, a source close to Justin said he chose to leave the Copacabana after fans found out he was staying there. The singer reportedly moved to a rented private mansion being rented in West Rio.
Bieber’s first show on Saturday at Arena Anhembi in São Paulo wasn’t without incident.
Someone in the audience threw a water bottle at the teen singer as he sang his penultimate song “Boyfriend.” The force of the impact knocked the mic from his hand after hitting his left upper arm. Clearly shocked and angered, the 19-year-old threw “Blue Steel” into the crowd and left the stage without returning to encore “Baby” despite the audience calling for it.
It’s claimed Bieber was over three hours late for his pre-Saturday show “Meet and Greets” and the concert itself. Other claims that the singer “kicked” the Brazilian flag during the show are disputed by fans attending.
Reports of Justin’s partying with friends and females at a Hollywood TV launch event in São Paulo, later moving on to the Zax Club in West Rio, and from there reportedly to a private mansion with “30 girls hand-picked by him” have been widely picked up.
Bieber’s last concert in Rio de Janeiro went to plan apart from a stage invasion by a shirtless male fan as the singer sang the last bar of “Boyfriend.” The fan was pulled off by dancers and removed from the stage by security guards.
At the concert the superstar seemed to take the interruption in his stride. Hugging dancers onstage, he said on mic, “I thought that was an extra dancer, I didn’t know what the f_k.”
Amid appreciative tweets about both Brazil concerts, Justin added his comment on his much talked jaunt, tweeting, “Brazil you have been amazing. thank you. except this guy. he was too much,” and linking to one his tour dancers and a YouTube clip of the Sunday stage invasion.
On Monday, the pop prince thanked his fans for their responses to and iTunes push of “Bad Day” but didn’t mention Katy Perry’s new status as most followed person on Twitter. Bieber trails the “Roar” songstress by 53, 245 followers.
Overblown reports about Bieber’s adult nightclub visit, hard partying, and a repeat-watch reaction to having a water bottle hurled at him aside, the teen singer appears determined to keep his game face on, online.
