Kerry Washington Didn’t Let Lesbian Rumors Bother Her

Kerry Washington didn’t let recent lesbian rumors get her down. According to the actress, there’s absolutely “nothing offensive” about being gay.

The Django Unchained star watched helplessly as countless publication speculated about her sexuality. Although everyone seemingly has a theory about her personal life, Washington said she wasn’t “bothered” by the rumors that she was in a lesbian relationship.

Kerry Washington addressed these reports during a recent interview with The Advocate. The actress said she had no reason to take offense to the media’s endless speculation about her sexuality.

“I like how people will post pictures of me with other women that I adore, hugging on the red carpets, and say, ‘See?’ Are we so uncomfortable with love between two people of the same gender that we immediately label it as sexual? I’ve never been bothered by the lesbian rumor. There’s nothing offensive about it, so there’s no reason to be offended,” she explained.

Washington continued, “It’s interesting how much people long to fill in the gaps when someone in the public eye doesn’t share their personal life. I understand their frustration.”

Keeping up with the Scandal star’s personal life is a little difficult. The Inquisitr previously reported that Kerry Washington is pregnant with her first child, though this rumor arrived courtesy of an anonymous source who claimed to have inside information.

“She’s about four months along,” the nameless friend explained.

Since getting any concrete info about her private life is like pulling teeth, don’t expect Kerry Washington to weigh in on the matter anytime soon. During her recent chat with Glamour magazine, the actress is trying her best to keep these details away from prying eyes.

Washington told the publication:

“I learned through experience that it doesn’t work for me. I’ve had earlier times in my career when I did talk about it. But I couldn’t just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.’ So I just thought, ‘Okay, no more.’ I’m walking around in the world with my ring. And when people say congratulations, I say thank you.”

Fans of Kerry Washington are certainly in for a treat this weekend. The actress is all set to host an episode of Saturday Night Live with musical guest Eminem.
