Alyssa Milano Jokes About ‘Charmed’ Reboot
Star Alyssa Milano was displeased this week when it was announced her TV hit Charmed was up for a “reboot” already… because frankly, we didn’t even know it wasn’t still on in the first place.
Milano wasn’t the only Charmed star to object to the decision to plumb the show’s popularity for a near-immediate redux.
We couldn’t help but recall McGowan in Jawbreaker, when she tweeted her reaction to the news that the popular paranormal genre crosser — which starred McGowan, Milano, and Shannen Doherty — and opined:
“They are really running out of ideas in Hollywood… Lame lame lame lamertons.”
Lame, lame, lame lamertons!
Alyssa concurred, also tweeting at the lamertons redoing her show and saying:
The thing about them doing a #charmed reboot is… it just… it feels like yesterday. It feels too close.”
It’s true Charmed hasn’t been gone very long. And it’s also true that its premise — which was, at the time, not nearly close to as saturated in the TV market (paranormal premise with supernaturally gifted characters) — seems to have kicked off a firestorm of similar hits in its wake.
So it’s probably natural in the short-memory TV world to do a reboot of the show, whether Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan like it or not. After all, True Blood, Supernatural, Once Upon A Time, American Horror Story, American Horror Story: Coven, American Horror Story: The One With The Haunted Psych Hospital… all followed the success of Charmed before them.
Diplomatically, she told E!:
“I think really it’s due to the success of Charmed and the fact that it had so much success even after it was done, meaning that people looked for it, people searched it out and watched those episode over and over… TheCharmed fans are the greatest fans on the planet and the most loyal fans on the planet. I feel like networks are trying to replicate that.”
Still, Alyssa took time out to poke fun at the revival of the show with a new cast, presumably, retweeting:
“I think as long as they’re at it, they should reboot Mistresses too, don’t you think? I mean, why wait?” ~ Brad Kern #quote

In case you missed it, Mistresses is the show on which Milano currently stars. One fan didn’t, asking for an explanation, and another replied:
@laurawalker86 @Alyssa_Milano I think it’s a dig at the #Charmed reboot, that it’s too soon. That’s how I took it anyway.

While Alyssa Milano and Rose McGowan are not happy with the idea, the reboot of Charmed is still in the early stages — and may never happen.
